News: Immortelle (Helichrysum) Essential Oil available at NYR

Good news for us Aromatherapists – Neal’s Yard Remedies have now added Immortelle – also known as Everlasting or by it’s Latin name Helichrysum, to it’s range of essential oils.

This is one of the more expensive oils at £30 for 5mls but a well-sourced, good quality organic essential oil is absolutely worth it for the effectiveness of the properties that it can have.

In the case of Immortelle it is anti-inflammatory, astringent, anti-fungal & a vulnerary (wound-healing) & is thus particularly good for the skin. It is soothing for chapped, raw, damaged & infected skin, being indicated for conditions such as Dermatitis, Ezcema, Psoriasis, cuts & wounds. It is also cooling for burns & as a slight anxiolytic is excellent for supporting & relieving anxiety, depression, fatigue & nervous exhaustion. The name derives from the remarkable preservative ability of the flowers, which remain unchanged even after drying. It is from these flowers that the essential oil is extracted by steam distillation.
