Ingredients

Ingredients – Only Natural & Organic

I trained in Aromatherapy and Natural product making for 2 years with the Neal’s Yard Remedies Aromatherapy and Essential Oils Science Diploma. I only use pure and natural ingredients, no harsh chemicals or cheap fillers as can often be found in even the most expensive brands. All the products that I blend are fresh, and should keep well for a year if stored in the cool and dark, or up to 2 years if kept in the fridge. I do not usually use preservatives as I make smaller quantities more frequently – the fresh is best approach. However, if required I use Propolis, a natural resin collected from plants and botanical sources by bees. My ingredients where possible are organic and my essential oils of the highest quality from a supplier who only sells to professional aromatherapists.

Essential Oils

Lavender Essential Oil Dried - Banner - Nature To Nurture - Aromatherapy In Hemel & St AlbansI am happy to discuss these in order to choose the best type of blend for your individual needs – which may vary with time and circumstances. However, these are the oils particularly effective by skin type and need:

Rose is a natural emollient and is particularly good for moisturising dry skin

Dry skin
  • Rose: brilliant for moisture, softness & scar reduction – and smells amazing!
  • Frankincense: has been used for rejuvenation, an anti-ageing oil used for thousands of years
  • Myrrh: commonly used with Frankincense as it has many similar properties
  • Sandalwood: used for both its natural moisturising and preserving abilities

Other oils: Lavender, Jasmine, Neroli, Calendula, Cedarwood, Chamomile

Geranium is one of the most balancing of the essential oils, and this is also true in skincare, making it excellent for combination skin

Combination/Normal skin
  • Geranium: balancing, so good for combination skin – it gives moisture for dry areas & sebum balancing for more oily areas
  • Palmarosa: sebum balancing, removes impurities without stripping natural oils from the skin
  • Ylang-Ylang: sebum balancing

Other oils: Mandarin, Vetiver, Orange

Lemon is a natural astringent, making it a good choice for oily skin

Oily skin/Problem skin/Spots
  • Lemon: astringent & tonifying
  • Rosemary: astringent & tonifying
  • Palmarosa: sebum balancing, removes impurities without stripping natural oils from the skin
  • Tea Tree: antimicrobial, astringent & antiseptic

Other oils: Ylang-Ylang, Lime, Lemongrass, Mandarin, Orange, Vetiver, Palmarosa

Lavender is known as ‘the mother of all oils’ and is extremely well-tolerated by even sensitive skin

Sensitive skin
  • Chamomile
  • Lavender
  • both of these oils are extremely well tolerated by even the most sensitive of skin, and can also be used for babies

Other oils: Helichrysum, Neroli, Sandalwood, Rose

For scars and skin-healing Rosehip seed is my absolute go-to oil. It’s emollient skin-softening properties have to be felt to be believed

Scar Reduction – post operative/old scars/stretch marks
  • Rosehip Seed oil
  • Frankincense
  • Rose
  • Patchouli
